Don't throw your old fire documents away!

Publications, books (even children's books), news clippings, internal documents, research reports, videos, and pamphlets are all valuable material that we would love the chance to archive and catalog. The library is growing at a rapid rate through donations from our users.

Among the larger doners have been:

  • Ross Wein
    (University of Alberta)
  • Dale Wade
    (Retired, US Forest Service)
  • Bob Martin
(Deceased, US Forest Service and UC Berkeley)
  • Clint Phillips
(Deceased, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection)
  • Bill Beaufait
    (Deceased, US Forest Service)
  • Joan Llovet
(Centro de Estudios Ambientales del Mediterraneo)
  • Natural Resources Canada, Canadian Forest Service
(with the downsizing of the Petawawa National Forestry Institute in 1996, the Technical Information Centre library of the former Forest Fire Research Institute was transferred to FRI)

Donations of material are recognized by the US IRS as a valid donation to a non-profit organization and qualify as tax deductions. You should check with your accountant as to the value of donations. When a donation of material is received by the library, we send you a letter acknowledging the gift and telling you how many pieces of material were given. Your accountant can then help you determine the value of the donation. Don't forget to keep your postage receipt, as this is also a donation.

Donations should be sent to:
